    someone explaine this ytm 175

    i need some one explaine 2 strokes to me. I have a 83 ytm 175, the oil pump still works. 1st question The oil goes from the oil tank to the motor and then the motor pumps it in to the carb right. 2nd question if i mix the oil and gas to gether and put into the gas tank will will it hurt the motor when i by pass it be cause it will not be going into the motor.

    1. YTM175's have oil injection
    2. Motors don't pump oil into a carb, or there would be one hell of a mess!
    3. If what you mean is you want to bypass the oil injector and premix the gas, there is no harm in doing so as long as you have the correct mixture.

    In a Technicality---Yes the engine does "PUMP" oil into the carb. It isnt under Extreme pressure--but it is Pumped in.

    As Long as your mixture is right, there is no problem with putting the premix directly into the tank. As far as bypassing the pump---there is a gear in the trans housing that drives the pump, as well as a gear on the pump itself. I personally would remove the pump. remove the gear from the pump and reinstall it. If you run the pump dry it can sieze and can ( UNLIKELY- But CAN) make a real mess inside your case. -----TRY http://www.howstuffworks.com/two-stroke.htm

    That can vary by rider, some guys use 32/1---some guys even go 50/1------

    I would try 32 to 1 and adjust from there.

    you have to remeber to plug off the line at the carb also. bad things could happen them.

    Probably not , since the system is still sealed--just inoperable
