    back-fire problem

My 185s back-fires a little when i give it full throttle real fast. The air filter is new. The carb looks clean. I checked the timing-clearance in CDI, it was good. i placed the mixture needle in the carb where it should be. It is not lean, but I can tell it is still running to rich. What could it be, should I rebuild carb or what?

    thanks for the continued help.

Check your timing, take the check screw off of the flywheel casing(Large sloted screwdriver screw) Then look for the t and line it up with the notch. Then remove the cdi cover and line up the timming marks.

    Do you have a manual?

Weak igniiton. Hitting teh gas really hard dumps raw fuel in the cylinder, its not burning off and loading up in the engine. Check compression too, valve might be leaky.
