Been working 3 jobs, lol. Down to 2 so I should be around a little more now.

I've seen some brand new elka non-resi shocks for just under $500. Would those be better then works with resi's? I've heard they would be and being I don't MX much I was thinking that I might not need the resi's. What's your thoughts buddy?

By the way, that swinger of yours looks great! I haven't had time to make any in the last few months but that might be changing soon too.

I converted it, rode it and it was fun but I miss my quad. I've bought a whole new frame and many other parts so I can keep the trike chassis. So I'm asking because I'm looking for my new quad. I know, I'm awfully weird!

Damn that took some serious work to find out youd rather ride a quad.

I would say any aftermakret shock would be a tremendous improvement over stock. If your not goona mx race I would watch ebay or exriders for a ncie used set of shocks.

It's not so much that I'd rather ride a quad, it's more that I chopped up my perfectly good one and had some regrets. I should have just made one in stead of converting mine. The goal now is to have both, that's why I got a new frame and parts and am leaving the trike chassis in tack.

I was looking at the non-resi Works shocks too. I wonder how they would be compared to stock. I hear a lot of people saying stay away from Works but are they really that bad?

I just got the works dual rates with rezzies for my raptor. They are a great improvement over stock for a good price. I dont do any serious mx, just go to practices with the OTC. Out on the trails the shocks work great with the help of the steering stabilizer i got too.
    I got nothing...

Elkas are one of the best for serious heavy duty use like motocross, but theres no way Id fork out that money for them for trail riding. Its way overkill in my opinion. Works makes agreat shock, and at one time they were the high performance standard before these other better ones came out. Id go with a double or triple rate for that "progressive spring" effect. Softer in the begginning and stiffer farther down they are compressed. Unless you run flat out for extended periods of time while trail riding, the resevoir isnt much of an issue either. I ran triple rate Works , no rezzie, on my TRX250R, and they were super on trails and HS, and sufficient on the MX track, though Id rather have had Elkas there. I think they sold for $175.00 used.

Thanks a lot guys! Sounds like I'm on the right path. If there is some money left in the budget I'll get the Elkas but if it ends up a little tighter I'll get the Works. Sounds like I'll be in good shape either way.
