Randy-- My "CLYMER" says:
Place a soft copper washer (or copper penny) between the primary drive gear on the backside of the oil filter rotor and the drive gear on the clutch outer housing. This is to keep the oil filter rotor from rotating while loosening the locknut. CAUTION-The locknut has
left-hand threads. Loosen it by turning it clockwise.
Did you try that? My book is for '86-'87 200x, (yours is '84 or '85 isn't it?) but should be same I would think.
