Mix and Match, putting Honda parts on a Yamaha. Is it OK to do?

Ok, so I was thinking about changing over my YTM front wheel to a narrow style one. I could just make an adapter plate but then I got thinking that if I use the front hub from the same trike I would then be able to run a disk front brake, another plus. I could probably get a Tri-Z front hub/tire to work but since I am swapping parts out I could just go with a Honda 200x hub instead. See I already have the Honda hub with new bearings and a usable rim/tire plus I have the speedo gearbox so I would then be able to have a speedometer which would be cool.

So what I am wondering is should I mix and match different brands? I have always thought if your going to modify something use aftermarket parts or parts from something else as long as it is the same brand. But having a speedometer would be nice and Yamaha didn’t make them. Should I make it into a Yamahonda?

I don't even blink to use other brands. Think of it this way, back in the day racers would use anything to make their trikes better. Your just carrying on the tradition!

Hell, If I was still racing my Tri-Z it would have been half Honda by now!

Looks like it is leaning towards it being ok to use the Honda parts.

i have a 2001 yamaha yz 250 front caliper on the back of my trx250r. almost a direct bolt on just had to egg the one hole out on the mounting bracket 3/16th of a inch

the rear brakes never worked so good. the dirt bike parts go way cheaper then the trx stuff on ebay, $20 to $30 compared to $75 tp $100.
