what do about spare 350x motor

I bought a spare 350x motor for 140 bucks last spring or so. It has a top end but no cylinder head/valves/cover. It is also missing the shift shaft and magento cover and stator.

I finally got around to taking the top end and clutch cover off. When i bought the motor it wouldnt do more than two revolutions then stop. After i took the clutch cover off this problem went away. I found out that the flat bearing between the clutch push rod and piece that holds the clutch spring was all bashed up and was missing some of the needles.

I also found some metal shavings in the oil filter screen and oil filter area. The rod and some of the crank is blue, and a lot of the cases are black inside. What does this mean? I know the blue means heat, but what about the black on the insides of the cases?

The play in the rod seems fine, but i have no idea how to inspect the crank bearings.

Basically, i want to make this motor have a lot of balls, and throw it in my stock 350x. I dont want to do the top end and have the bottom end blow up, but ive never split cases before to make sure.

What should i do? Split the cases and see what teh crank bearings look like?

What should i go about replacing in the bottom end to make it good to go for a nice powerful top end? Or should i just part it out and make my money back and be done with it.

I would needs parts such as shift shaft, piston, bore and hone, clutch, cylinder head and cover, valves, cam , etc etc

It will cost a lot of money and i dont want to throw my money into a money pit.

Let me know what you think I should do, and how hard of a job it is to redo the bottom end and get it ready to go

it would be safer and cheaper to build the one you have running.
