Not a chance they could do that in the cylinder, I got a piston and rings in front of me here and you would have to have the cylinder 5mm too big to have that happen.
I know it sounds bizarre but it was and I was thinking the same thing.
The bore was way to big for piston. Put it this way. The rings do not even compress against piston like it should.
Took to Honda dealer and he said he has seen it happen before also from people just slapping top ends together and not having pistons fitted to cylinder.

To be honest, I would not want to see you guys cry. I pity you foo's.
Also I do not race anyone from east coast or mid west. They are too arrogant.

When I pulled cylinder off, the rings jumped out of grooves and crossed each other.
Half the top ring was in bottom groove and vice versa. That is where I got clanking noise.
I saved myself a costly repair on bottom end because rings and piston were still in tact although piston has 4 cracks in it from the slap.
So I took it down to Starting Line Products machine shop and having the works done to it and having the piston fitted to bore.
Got my power reeds in and after bore and port, it will be ready to rip in about a week.
Too bad I am not going to trike fest. I would have to spank all of you and take all the prizes home.
You can try, although people at TF have found the gears beyond first

I find it funny you called the westerners arrogant making a statement like this.

85 250R "Red Rocket"

my jet ski had the same problem last summer . seems rust in the cylinder caused it.
