Question 250R Fork Pressure? What Do You Think

I did a search and found many different opinions on putting air into the front forks. My manual says that you can put air in but do not exceed 10-14 psi. Many people on here say never put pressure in them because it will blow your seals. What do you guys think?

I would agree. If you feel tht you MUST put air in them, then no more than 1 to 3 lbs.
I never had to put air in mine when mine was still rolling down the trails. You may want to consider progressive springs, instead.

Ok thanks. I just went out to the garage and let out the air pressure I put in earlier today. Ill check into those progressive springs.

I'm pretty sure the point of the air valves in most forks is for the purpose of bleeding off air pressure that can build up from the air being sucked in through the fork seals. When the forks are compressed its creating a vacumn and it can sucks tiny tiny amounts of air through the seals. Eventually this pressure needs to be bled off, hence the valves.
And that's the rest of the story. ~ Paul Harvey

I tried running about 8psi in my 200x forks ages ago and the seals blew pretty quickly. Ever since, I run zero pressure.

If you need them to be a little more stiff, just use spacers. It works better than air anyway.

    Air Doggy

I but a couple psi in mine. It makes for a nice cushion. Never had any seal problems here.

my manual says to lift it by the frame. let all the air out. then set it down that should build just enough pressure. you dont want negitive pressure pulling you down.
