Best way to bleed brakes for rednecks!!

Yesterday I installed the 200X setup on the 250SX with the canondale resevoir. I thought, here we go again with the stupid bleeding and I had an idea. I stuck a 3 foot hose on there and cracked the bleeder with one end on the bleeder and the other end in my mouth and slurped away until there were no more bubbles. I kept my face right up by the resevoir so I could add fluid as I went. Sure it didn't taste to dam good and yes I spit it out but it worked pissa and took about 45 seconds. All kidding aside, I imagine if you got 10 feet of clear hose you could slurp out all the bubbles before the brake fluid got to your mouth. No bad jokes please....

That's exactly how I did mine! It worked great!! I answered another guys question about bleeding brakes, I didn't want to mention using my mouthe for fear of looking like an idiot!

After slurping to get bubbles out, try blowing fluid back into it to build pressure.

Man, I glad I'm not the only redneck on here! LOL!

You know the real easy way is just to stick a line on the bleeder, run that line in to a container of brake fluid, then crack the bleeder (just a little so it's hard for the fluid to get out), and pump away. This way with the line in the fluid you can't accidentally suck back in air.

YUP, and on my truck it works great. Lovely watching the airbubbles disappear. But, on an ATC it does not work very well. Once the major bleeding is done, the bottle of fluid helps to let you know that all of the air is gone and I find it usefull for that. But for that initial bleeding, there simply isn't enough of a stroke and pressure build up in an ATC caliper. I'll just keep slurping away for now....

i dont have a pic of it but we have a little maybe $10 max. bleeder thing. its about a 2-3 foot long piece of clear 1/4 inch or so hose with a check valve in the center, you pump the brakes and it pushes the air/fluid out and doesnt let air back in. It's really simple, cheap, and doesnt make you feel like an idiot while your doing it

I use a oil can witha pump and some short clear hoese. And bleed the system backwards. Takes all of 30 seconds.

If you're really in a pinch any check valve will work. I have a windshield washer nozzle check valve from a Volvo to bleed brakes. Probably the easiest and cheapest way to do it, especially on a car. Flip a small bottle of fluid upside down in the resevoir (provided it won't tip over while bleeding) so the resevoir doesn't empty, hook the hose with the check valve on the bleeder, the other end of the hose in an empty bottle or a drain pan, crack the bleeder loose and pump.

Using a hose like you did works great too. Even cheaper than a check valve. Can't efficiently use that method on a car though.

When I was a tech for a living I had a Vacula to bleed brakes. Worked well. A bit pricey at $150. But when you bleed 2,3 or 4 systems a day, the time you save pays for it in no time.

I was just putting the rear brake rotor on my girlfriends 400ex about 45 minutes ago and had the lock-tite lid in my mouth to hold it for a second, took a breath and tasted it for the first time ever. I have to disagree though, antifreeze tastes pretty good

I wonder if your master needs a rebuild because it should and has always worked fine for me?

It's a brand new canondale master cylinder, the other SX has a rebuilt master and that thing was just as big a pain in the arse to bleed.
