Anybody know a ballpark figure for how much it would cost to have a 2-stroke expansion chamber ceramic coated in chrome?

Bumping this back up again.
I just got a quote from Jet Hot of $75 to do an expansion chamber in the chrome color. Weird thing is black was $95. Seems kinda backwards. I have some pipes I'd rather do in black. It's a local setup so no shipping costs. Still seems a little pricey (especially for black). If you bring in about 3 or more pipes at once they give you %15 off.
Anybody got a hookup to get this stuff done cheaper?
For Black. Hi-temp BBQ grill paint works really nice. Super cheap around $5 a can.

I was considering that too. How does it hold up against the sand though? Seems like it would get blasted off pretty easy.
The key to keeping the paint from getting sandblasted off is to always stay out front, on the throttle, with the front wheel in the air.![]()

I dont know what they consider as a large pipe but they will do a polished coat for $100.
you can get a full works coat job for about $240. thats piston, wrist pin, cylinder head(inside and out), cylinder(exterior), and exhaust port. go to the page and read up on it. I plan on doing the works on my tecate when the motor blows up.

We are always looking for an extra performance edge on our race sleds and one of the things we found was the heat-retention properties of ceramic coated pipes. We’ve all seen the guys on the starting line running cycle after cycle through the engine to get the pipes as hot as possible. They do that because they know that a hot pipe is a happy pipe. But when it’s winter and you stop for a few minutes to grab a smoke or wait for your buddies at an intersection, your pipe is cooling off. The same thing happens just by riding in sub-zero or in snowy conditions. The result is that you’re not running at optimum performance. The mountain riders have known and enjoyed the advantages of ceramic-coated pipes for years. Aggressive trail guys are just learning about it. With the ceramic coating’s superior heat retention, your sled will maintain a crisp throttle response with less bogging and better acceleration. In our quest to maintain the same high quality standards we hold our standard black painted products to, we invested in our own ceramic oven and tumbler. By having all of the ceramic equipment in-house, we can turn around an order in less time, because we’re not dependent on outsourcing.

I usually put on about 5-6 light coats of it on. If you can get the pipe down to bare metal it will look flawless. I think I remember you saying that you have a sand blaster, the perfect tool!Originally Posted by Dammit!
The dunes dont hurt the finish, however repeated cinder trips will eat it up. Quick touch-ups are a snap though.

I never got the sandblaster hooked up. I'm sure I can find someone to blast it for cheap though. I'll try that on the stock Z pipe and see how it looks. The Paul Turner Type 6 I have is definitely getting ceramic coated (it's in awesome shape). The High Rev I just got... I don't know. It's a little rough and probably not worth it. It used to be chrome at one point but I might just have it blasted and hit with the black paint. If I end up really liking the performance I'll probably sell it and buy a brand new one.
I assume you can get the grill paint at any hardware store? Any particular brand you've had good luck with?
I used about 3 different brands over the years and they work well just the finish differs.
The Krylon BBQ black at walmart or home depot is nice and the cheapest, the finish is a shiny black. PJ1 fast black exhaust paint is more of a satin "low gloss". Same as the Duplicolor brand exhaust header paint at Checker or Autozone.

I've used Rustoleum high heat paint for BBQ grills and such on a 200x header and muffler. It worked great and is holding up well. I used a wire wheel on an electric drill to get the pipe down to the bare metal. It only comes in black if I remember correctly. We've pressure washed it a number of times and it hasn't effected it yet.

I had my banshee pipes done by Jet-Hot.They were a set of inframe drag pipes,so they were bigger than most pipes, and they only charged $125 for both.I've had thme done for a few years and are holding up very well.Clean them with hot soapy water and use Mothers polish to get them shiny again.Heres a pic,one pic if with flash, one is without.

I'm definitely having them do my Paul Turners in that chrome-like color. The black pipes I'm just going to use this BBQ grill paint. I picked up some flat black tonight and started going to town on the Tri-Z pipe with the wire wheel. Already wore one of them out.
