White plastic 350x tanks (clarke, IMS, etc) turning yellow

I know the white plastic tanks tend to turn yellow and that stickers will bubble on them. What I'm wondering is, has anyone tried using red cote or kreem or something to line the inside of the tank with to see if it prevents the yellowing? I know some people have coated plastic tanks for other reasons and seemed to have some success. Not sure about the yellowing though.

I've been using SoftScrub w/ bleach on mine, it whitens it up really nice. I'd be curious to see if anybody has ever kreemed a plastic tank, & how it stood the test of time.

Man!!! Thanks Gazoo for the info on how to get rid of the plastic yellowing. Bought OEM plastics for my mint/rider 89 TRX 250R and the plastic starting yellowing after only 3 rides, That SoftScrub w/bleach did the trick!!! Now its time to start on the 86' OEM 350X plastic

the reason that your stickers /decals are bubbling off of the tank is cause with a plastic tank a very small amount of gas vapors get through the plastic and kill the adhesive on the decals/stickers. i have used red cote in 2 plastic clean tanks so far with absolutely no problem. one has been running for 2 yrs now. and now one bubble in the decals. as far as the yellow? i have 2 white clarke tanks and neither has yellowed at all. maybe cheap gas?

I've often wondered that myself about cheap/low grade gas. I've seen some tanks that just didn't yellow at all over the years. Maybe the yellowing was because of sitting for long periods of time with crappy gas in them?
