Ive been trying to set up a ftp on my computer, so you guys can get them right from my computer

i need someone to test it

the address is: ftp://192.168.2.2/

(i doubt itll work because im behind the router, with the port 21 open, but i still dont think itll work)

username: 3wheelerworld
password: service

someone do this asap and let me know if it works

does anyone know how to set up a ftp behind a router? Id just take the router off, but i like to have my xbox hooked up and my comp upstairs on wireles....

i have port 21 (ftp port) open, and yeah....nothing is working

i am using a program called serv-*Edited* which is supposed to let you host files on your comp for you or others with the password to download, and im struggling...

any help would be appreciated

A 192 address is always a non-routable address. There's no way that was going to work. What you need to do is get the real IP address given to you by your ISP, then setup your router to do port forwarding. You should be able to get into your router and set this up fairly easy (check your manual). You need to forward port 21 to the ip address the router gave your computer (and further, you can set that ip address as a static address in your tcp/ip properties and get it to where your router always uses the same ip for your box).

Beyond that, I'm afraid I'm way too rusty to be of much help from over here. I need things in front of me to be able to figure them out anymore.

i did that, port 21 is open on 192.168.2.2

i registered a DNS of hondamanuals.serveftp.org , but now it brings me to the start page if i was to log into my router.

i tried my actual ip address and it still didnt work. i thought the dns thing would work but still nothing

any other ideas?

Is there any way we can get those manuals uploaded to the 3wheelerwold site? That would help things much! I need a 83-85 manual, if you have it and MSN if you could send it that would be cool. If you want, you can send me all the manuals and i can set up my comp as an FTP server, i've done it before. Anyways, good luck!

You might need to open port 20 as well. In your router open range 20-21.

Sometimes it is also necessary to enable passive mode in your FTP server as well..

if you know very very little HTML programming, you could easily set something up on your PC for us to access. Analog-X has a program called simple server - here's a link:

do you definalty have a static real-world IP now? It must be static - and you mentioned that you registered a domain name too. This should work for you. I used it once, and it works pretty good - Hope this helps.
