    1984 yamaha tri moto 200L running but revs near wide open at start help

    hey
    I just bought a motor off ebay for my 1984 yamaha tri moto 200L, it has good compression and all new gaskets in the top end, I primed it n it fired up first pull but it started reving real high, the exhaust isnt on it yet and its missing the choke cable. Could it be air is getting in through the choke cable hole mabe? let me know what you guys think,

    Either plug the hole or get the choke fixed & see what happens. It will suck air through there causing it to rev & run real lean.
    If that doesn't help, make sure the throttle cable isn't too tight or misrouted.
    Also, maybe the idle speed adjustment screw is set too high.
