    Helping with food for TF

This is directed mostly to John, but anyone else can chime in.

What can I bring to help? I can pick up 10 lbs of hot sausage, cut up a bunch of potatoes for fries, a few chickens, burgers, dogs, eggs, breakfast sausage, whatever.

I have a King Kooker (deep fryer) I can bring along if needed.

Please post up with whatever you think might help out. I'll do what I can to chip in.

Sounds like a good idea John. You definitely deserve the time off from being camp cook.

    Brandon,
I hope that this response doesn't come off the wrong way...

I was offering up some supplies and maybe some meat/potatoes for whomever was going to be doing the cooking, I wasn't preparing to take on the "camp cook" task. I can still bring my fryer and cut up some fries or bring sausage if someone wants to cook it up, but I don't really want to do much cooking. There is gonna be a huge crowd this year and I don't want to spend the weekend cooking/cleaning for 200-300 people. (Thanks John for doing it for as long as you did. Takes a special kind of guy to do that and I don't think I'm that kind of guy)

Last year I did more hanging out than riding (mostly due to the muddy conditions) but this year I want to ride as much as I can. I believe they sell cooked food up in the main building and I'm fine with buying quick food and hitting the trails.

Again, I'll still bring the fryer and some food if someone wants to cook it and eat it.

    Lemme know.

I talked to john last night on the phone about this.I told him i wasn't gonna bring turkeys this year.He told me he wasn't cooking either. The reason is last year i won a nice prize(someone told me) but wasn't there to accept it and it went to somebody else due to helping john cook and cleanup(which was fine john!).However, due to the demand(haha),i will be bringing ribs!Probably due them up saturday along with john's turkeys.

    That's understandable.

Sucks that the prize was given to someone since you weren't present when called. I dunno the whole story so, I can't make any judgements.

So is there going to be a group type gathering with food, or just a group gathering, or no set gathering of any kind?

I'm fine with whatever. I was only trying to help out in some way if someone was going to be cooking (like John and the other guys did last year). If all would rather "fend for themselves" as far as cooking goes, that's cool with me too. We can let this thread die in peace.

Is there a need for fryers for "john's turkeys" for Saturday night or is someone bringing them already?

Rhuel,i'm sure john will have his table and canopy set up(maybe he can shed some light on this).I'll be bringing the ribs over by john to serve. If people bring a couple more turkeys, than you will need another fryer.Last year we did up 6 turkeys with 2 fryers and it took awhile.
On a side note,if you want a good bloody mary(ask freaksfix lol),i'll be making them.Just come see me and i'll hook ya up.Were hoping to camp up by the house if there's room.

How does it usually work at TF? Community cooking and eating or does everyone fend for themselves? I was kinda preparing to pack food for just myself but my buddys a butcher and I could probably bring a whole cooler full of nothing but meat if its everyone bring something and we all eat from whats brought.

Its a little bit of both honestly. Theres usually atleast 1 or 2 meals where a bunch of people are together. Its not everyone but its a large group. Usually on saturday night.
