    yamaha 225 fork oil change

I have a 85 yamaha 225 dx and was wondering how to change the fork oil. I see the drain bolt on the bottom but what do you take off at the top of the fork to refill it? Also what kind of oil do you put in it 10w? Thanks

First you need to get a manual.

1.Take the cap off the top of the forks.

2.Push down the stopper in the top of the fork tube with a wooden dowel.

3.Remove the stop pin on the inside of the fork.

    4 Remove the stopper.

5.You can refill with 5w 30.I forget the ammount..

edog, I got a Haynes manual and I'm still not getting it. I popped off those rubber caps, now your saying push down on the inside of the fork with a wooden dowl?....is this after you drain the oil?

Yes,you drain the oil first. The stopper under the cap is being pushed by the spring in the shock. This is why you must push it down to get to the retainer ring.
