alright i have some extra cash to do something to my 200x, im thinking bout putting in a hotter cam, have any of you done this, is there a noticible difference in power? and another question, do I have to send my cam in to a company or do they send ya a whole new cam or what, or do any of you guys know a better thing i should put on it? thanx

Yes cams are worth it. You have to look at it as part of the complete package. I would do the exhaust first then a cam. Some head porting and an increase in compression will really wake it up then. Make sure the intake is up to par with enough carb. The ignition is gotta be up to par as well the rev limiter may have to be raised if the cam is gonna make more power upstairs and will rev longer than before. Use the recommended springs and hardware. I do know that a properly built 200x will really motor. Just look at Curtis Sparks back in the day. Be realistic about your expectations and rideing when chooseing a cam. Too much cam will kill your bottom end and with nothing to support it will be dead on the top.

A cam in my eyes is better than a better-than-stock piston. Go to www.powroll.com and pick up the race cam. With shipping and everything it should come to about 200 dollars. This will make your 200x fast as hell. I would also do the springs, that is what I did. Do not do you own porting, if you are going to port. You might screw something up. Go with a race cam and springs, and you will be set for a while. Don't dig into the piston area until you are burnin oil. My trike has the full powroll race package except the crank, which i could do but i dont want to. It is well worth it. I was riding her today, i love it. Oh and i don't think there are rev limiters on the 200x. If you dont have enough for a full pipe, but a cobra headpipe and just run that...good sound and great throttle response.

will that race cam work good for a stock motor, well i have a complete supertrapp but thats it, and did you have to send your cam in somewhere or did they send you a complete cam ready to install, thanx for the input guys

complete cam ready to go. You might have to re-jet your bike for a race cam but other than that you should be good. To me, 200 dollars = bueno

A cam alone will just move your powerband up at the expense of low end power.

you realy need a high compresion piston when running a full race cam....with the overlap you lose cly presure. iv always liked megacycle cams

I see you haven't had many aftermarket cams. A cam alone will help your power and not just move the powerband. Anything that increases breathing in a proper way will add power. More lift = more air = more power. There's 2 parts to a cam, lift and duration. One will dramatically change the powerband placement in RPMs and the other just let's your engine flat out breath more. It's hard to keep it all down low because they work together but care to guess which one does what?Originally Posted by Rex Karz

do you guys think that cam from powroll that is the torque would be good, its alittle more expensive but it says for stock engines, i know webcam is another brND, any of you guys try them out

i enjoy bottom end power over high revs on my trike. i ride around in a lot of wooded areas, mud, small trails, etc...
if you like to go out on the dunes high end power and top speed would probably be more fun.
as for lift and duration they both effect how much air is going into the cylinder and they both effect powerband. although lift more so than duration.
higher lift = more air
longer duration = more air
higher lift cam will cause the engine to lose air intake velocity at low rpms, a longer duration will keep the same velocity but allow more time for air to enter the cylinder.

this is not true, all the parts have to work together. putting a huge cam in a mild engine might make it slower.
guess you have never seen the type who puts a huge cam in a stock low comp 350 and makes the car slower
