    Tecate top end noise?

My 84 T-3 sounds like it has a lot of top end noise. Is this normal for it to sound noisy, or is it more than likely piston slap? I think it needs rings (has about 30 hours on them) Will that take care of it or will I need a piston too? Also if one of the clutch spring bolts were replaced with a standard bolt will that cause any problems? Thanks,

Better take it apart to see whats up. Better than blasting the piston and blowing out the bottom end.

my tecate has always had a chatter to it.. even after I installed a new oem kx cyl. with new piston and rings. it cant hurt though to pull the top end off and check tollerences.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Ok, I guess its off to pull the top end apart. Might as well since I have to check out why I am getting water in the oil AGAIN! I mst have screwed the seal up or my impeller shaft is shot. ERRRR! I really want to ride it sometime this year, and after seeing a local track, I really gotta go try it out.

best thing- replace the wrist pin berring and pin!!!(piston pin berring)
    typicall kawi
check piston clearence, might need sleeved,or recoated,im assumeing those are coated,
make sure the pin and berring are snug in the rod!!
grab the rod ,extend it and try to pull,it up and down to see if there is any play
hold the lower end while doing this there should be no movement between the rod and the rod pin-(lower end) up and down
there is side movement though (called end play)
thoer wise crank might need rebuilt
    USEUALLY WRISTPIN BERRING THOUGH

Well, I think this thing still has the original bore and coating, so should I need to recoat it? I hope not, thats going to be expensive (yes $250 is expensive at the moment) If I tear it down, I am going to replace all the top end components, so wrist pin and bearing will be new.
