    Newbie, like to convert YZf426

I've tried to find help with this project.... I get the feeling newbies may not fit in with the locals. Someone did say a man named Virgil has done such a project already. I can find this website 3wheelsforever I guess this is Virgil's homebase. Looking to the pros for some insight and knowledge. I'd like to fallow some kind of direction and not make mistakes that could run this project right into the dirt. When I frist picked this bike up new, I thought what a great motor for a trike. I'm stoked to have found this sight and have been trying to read as much as possible. I don't want to come off bad I guess I should have posted a hello thread....Well hi all....anybuddy got line on Virgil

I have an 01' YZf426 dirtbike and I'm looking to convert it to a trike. I saw that 250Cr convertion and loved it. I'm looking to research for people that may have done my bike already. I don't have alot of funds to waste on mistakes. So learning the hard way is out of the question. If I found this site 2months prior to TF06' I'd have been there with the Z. I'll be up for 07' without a doubt. Mama doesn't go for last minute dirtbike trips if I'm solo. Anyway if I could pull off this project on a limited budgit I'll bring both Yamahas to TF07'

Scott thanks for the lead....I didn't get thats his login name..duh! I'll look to him directly and see if he might want to help me out with info. I'm not real sure on the rake, and swingarm changes that need to be made. I would like to use the stock forks and rear shock/linkage if at all possible. The mill work I'll outsource to a friend. The swingarm is casted alum. and I'm not too sure about the ablity to fab/weld to the existing swingarm. I looked to the masses for help and I thank anyone willing to help....I can do some things but I'm no fab man so info for me is key.

i would puit the engine into a 86 honda 250r chassis. it would be like all race quads people did just a trike. it would handle better also.

my buddy has a trx250r with a yz426 biult up and it had around 65 to 70 horsepower and it'll run on 93 octane. stock the bikes are 50 horsepower.

Hey Tri-Z 250, Ill try and help you on this project as much as possible but Im still not fully satisfied with mine. It has been redone twice already since TF05. I can tell you that no modifications in the rake need to be made. Just make sure you move the forks foward more so you have more steering. When I built the tripples for mine I didnt take into consideration the size of the inverts so they hit the radiators before the stops. As far as the swinger goes, I have been using an 86 Tecate swinger on mine I would like to build a new on out of chromoly steel that uses a honda style carrier. More than likely you will also have to modify the old subframe or build a new one to keep the ride height down. Im trying to post pics but the digicam wont let me upload them.
