    86 250R reed cage options

All right, I've had my carb modded, my cylinder bored and ported, a new esr pipe, silencer and flange installed. Do any of you have any experience with the esr reed assembly? I think my next upgrade will be a v force or a rad valve or the esr set up. Any thoughts on which may be better for me. Dune and desert riding at lower elevations mostly. The esr set up is not on their website but I hear is real nice using carbon reeds. Any input is appreciated. Thanks....Dove.

I can't comment on the esr or v-force setups but, you've seen my R run and I've for a Rad Valve on there if that helps at all. I should have told you to take a spin on it.

I'm gonna have to make mine a little faster. I have people gunning for me now.

I finally got a good set of paddles. When I bought my air compressor the guy threw in a practically brand new set of 20x10 8 paddle haulers. I just have to get some rims for them. No more crappy Sand Sharks!

Can you still get paul turner Hi rev pipes? I went with the Esr, I heard it was very good. The esr reed set up looks similar to a haonda cr set up, billett with or without a reed spacer and carbon reeds. I'm leaning rad valve but considering esr. The guys at Esr say they have tested their set up and a rad valve and say they got better performance from their's. (of course) It looks like aa tricked out Cr unit. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

dont know too much about this but ive heard the rad valve is limited to your stock carb size. so that may be a problem unless you buy the specific valve for the size carb you are using. i personaly like the v-force but have never seen the esr setup.

you can actually have more choices with a rad valve.they have a rubber boot/sleeve that is easy changed for bigger/smaller carbs.

you can still get pt pipes.i love mine,i have had them both, and both are great.dunno about esr stuff.i have heard alot of good things though!!good luck

im sure its better than stock. and if they had one for my aircooler id snatch one up but for me the only choice was the v-force since the boot on the rad valve is angled, and the v force still uses the stock intake. do they make a rad vlave for the tri-z?

I have run the CR cage in the past...it's OKit works fine, but I don't like that it is plastic. I run Rad valves now. On my ice bike, I run a 40.5-42 mm taperbore carb. I then took a modified KX500 Rad valve (estra 2mm of opening on the motor side of the cage) and honed it to match the carb. It is a perfect port job that matches the carb exactly.

Some say that the ESR/ V Force (same thing in my opinion) is better on bottom end for snappy power because the petals need to move less to get the same flow. I can see that, but the Rad Valve is a fully portable, grindable, flow monster. To compensate for the larger reed and longer distance of the reed swing, I use carbon fiber reeds. Very light and very stiff. Snaps back nicely. Very responsive. More for top end, and less restrictive than the stock setup.
