    Need help with a 1982 Atc200

I am new tot he forum but from the looks of it and some of the threads I went through..it seems like a very helpful bunch of people on here

I just picked up a 1982 atc200 for 50 bucks..it need some work here and there...we have been messing with the thing for about 3 days now and cant get it to start or even get spark.

I have been looking for parts online but I have a hard time finding particular things that I need. I was able to find a couple of diff websites that have a bunch of parts for sale but just the general stuff. One of the things I cant find and I think its the reason we cant get a spark is a new or used complete wiring harness. The one I have on there is all cut up and we tried putting it back together but not sure if I am doing what i need to be doing. Does anyone know where I can either find a wiring harness or if someone can help me find a wiring diagram for this trike.

Do you guys have any suggestions as far as what might be that is not giving me a spark...besides the wiring what else are the major factors that will not make this thing start.

Another thing is I am having a very hard time finding Neutral in that thing?

I mean when I bought it I knew it would need a good amount of work and stuff but I just need resources now thats all.

If someone can direct me to the right direction I will appreciate it.

Thanks again and looking forward to talking to everyone

One of my pet peeves is altered wiring, because you can't use a diagram to find out where they go. If the harness was all cut up, I would agree that it should be your first choice. Then go to CDI (does the '82 have CDI), coil and finally the stator. Your best bet would be here or on ebay. You will seldom find those parts anywhere else. Good luck and keep us posted!

Yeah I figured I should start trying to get a new wiring harness or a used comlete one first and then go from there. Yes it does have the CD1 thats another thing and as you said finaly the stator.

Ebay has one right now that is missing the green wire...but I am thinking about trying to get that one and I can use the missing green wire from my other one. Where would I go about searching for one on here.

I'm not sure what the proper place is for that. Probably ATV classifieds. I don't think anyone would fault you for asking here either, but put the request "Need wiring harness for atc200" in the subject line and somebody will bite.

I dunno if I'd buy one on ebay that's missing a wire. Up to you, of course. I'm picky about such things.

Also, check http://www.dratv.com for parts. They carry some CDI's and coils, so you may be able to get a couple of parts new. I use them quite a bit.

We have a lot of wiring diagrams on the main part of this site. The wiring diagram should help you get the wiring fixed enough to get spark / running. This would save you some money.

Actually that was the first site I visited and they have a bunch of stuff for a really good price as well...they have the cdi and the coil but not the harness.

I agree with you about buying the harness with a missing wire...I am the same way but I am just having a hard time finding one thats complete

I am 80% sure I have a good complete wiring harness at the shop. I'm off today so it would be tomorrow afternoon at the earliest before I can check.
