Well recently I have put the ST tank and shrouds on, painted the pipe silver and added some stickers to the shrouds. And put a 38mm carb (I recomend this!) Wish these pictures could have a big bore kit in them but oh well (see my signature).![]()

How's the spray painted tank holding up?
Better than I thought actually! The tank is starting to go now but I guess I can't complain I got a long time out of it and put a lot of hours on it!!! Plus it takes all of 5 minutes to repaint it. Just clean with some deanatured alcohol and re-spray it!

Why did you paint it again? I can't remember. If it was just a faded red, that's actually fixable. Just takes a lot of elbow grease and patience.
No I just painted it once but maybe I'll do it agian. How would you go about un-fading the plastic??? Maybe I'll do that......
It blows my mind when I think how far I've come with this thing in little over 1 year and how much of an impact it's had on my life!!

Wet sand the top faded layer of red plastic off. Start with like a 320 grit until all the faded stuff is completely gone. Then start going to progressively finer grits until you get to 2000. After that you can use a polishing compound and an electric buffer or you can try the "flame kissing" technique but I can't vouche for that one. Haven't tried it yet.
Did you do any plug checks with the new carb? Hope you got the jetting sorted.
Really? You are slow! I have redone almost 2 in a years time:Originally Posted by 250r'en +TCB

Fine sandpaper, steel wool, then polish. I used Mothers aluminum polish on my tank and it came up like new. My tank was pretty nice and I didn't have to sand it, but I have done it in the past. It works well.
Heres a good how to fact. Written by Chainsaw!
