Question Kawasaki KLT 200 Diff lock plate?

    Hi everyone,
I have another question about the KLT.
I went to put my diff in the locked position and I think somethings wrong,I have the Hayes manual but it dosnt show this bit of information in there?
The manual shows each piece going together on the locking shaft and into the diff case but what holds the whole deal in so the gear stays engaged?
Is the bottom plate suspossed to be mounted somehow to the case?
Man I wish I had the Kawasaki shop manual lol!!!
Thanks for any help you guys can give!

The bottom plate is suspossed to be welded on?
How do you split the case later for repairs?
