hey chris200x is that the 1200 BBQ paint you where talking about? if so where do you get that stuff at? is it a spray bottle or just a can? Also does the pipe look glossier in person? or did it come out pretty good in that picture? Id like a little more gloss on my pipe. Do you guys think that the engine block enamle paint stuff would come out any glossier?

well just got back from advanced auto parts and wallmart and it seems they only have flat black in the 1200 degree stuff but they have gloss black and grey in the 500 degree stuff. do you guys think the 500 degree stuff will cut it? or maybe if i painted the pipe with the 1200 degree stuff untill the pipe starts to expand then piant the rest with the 500 degree gloss paint.

I got that stuff (1200 degree BBQ) at Lowes. The cap says gloss black. $7.99. The muffler might be ok with the 500 but I think that would burn right off the header.
Ok hold off on this info...Originally Posted by chris200x
I just went out to double check and the cap don't say anything. I just assumed it to be gloss. It is much shinier than any of the flat blacks I've ever used. The pipe actually looks much nicer in person than in that pic. Not real shiney but not dull like a flat would be. sorry.![]()
I bead blasted my header and painted it with some weird brand 1200 degree engine paint that my father got from work (hes a diesel mechanic). It held up great until I started riding exclusivly in the sand. The sand coming up from the front tire is starting to blast the paint off. I think ceramic is the way to go....do it once and forget about it.
