new can-am renegade 800 "sport"

I don't really see the big deal with this thing do you guys? They are bragging how it's a whole 42lbs lighter??? As if that's a lot???
It would be awsome if they made a true "sport" 800cc and made it two wheel drive and therefor would have lightened the hell out of it!!! Imagine an 800cc l/c v-twin in something as light as the raptor! Now that would impress me and I would have to throw a leg over one!!!

What is your input on this new "sport" 800????

Devin, have you ever shaved 42lbs off of a machine? If the machine still functions fully that's real impressive.

I am 100% excited about this machine. I fully understand the big deal about it.

My wife rides a 500 4x4 scrambler because it looks sporty is 4x4, automatic and has crap loads of power. I also rdie the scrambler quite a bit, they are a hoot to ride when you have other guys riding the same type of machines.

What they have done is made 1 kick butt 4x4 large sport ute machine. I think they are gonna sell tons of them. I for one will buy one when I can afford it, problem is our scrambler probably only gets 10 hours per year on it so its hard to justify buying a new quad for that little amount of riding.

I have riden the 800 (not the new renegade) and it's just that on a mchine that weighs that much, 42lbs in the long run isn't much....... That's the difference between me at 140lbs and my dad at just over 200lbs.......

The point I am trying to make is why didn't they go all out and really make a sport quad out of this while they were at it? Keep the IRS but have 2 wheel drive, kinda like the outlaw only MUCH more power!!! I won't rag on the machine since I havn't riden it yet, I'm really just wondering why Can-am didn't just make a true sport out of this??

If it was only 2x4 I wouldn't be interested. If I want to ride a sport quad I WILL NOT get on a 800cc machine.

dude!!!!!!!!!! 42lbs lighter machine is a BIG difference. Wish i could find a way to shave that much of my Z!!!!!!!!

hahahaha come on now that's apples and oranges!! I'd be willing to bet that if a couple of us got together and got our hands on one of those utility 800's, between removing or shrinking some parts, and using lighter materials we could EASILY shave 42lbs off one of those beast!!!

I don't know about that TCB. Companies already compete to be the lightest and fastest.

Anyone throw a leg over this machine yet?

Personally I'd love to ride it, it would make a great woods/gncc type machine.

You could Shave 42lbs off.......Lighter pipe....Lighter tires...lighter rims....remove tool kit, hehe.....less gas and ummm.......remove the lights and then hit the misc parts. I don't think I'd ride a sport quad w/ independent rear suspension, dosn't seem right, but I'd still like to try it. I hear a vid of the 800 v w/ dual pipes....omg...sounds like a harely.....if only my rappy sounded that nice.
