Anyone using a Maier 85 250R headlight shell?

If you're using one, or have before, what are your impressions of it? I am going to be buying one soon, but I would like to know whatever I can about them before I do. IIRC, the tabs for the bulb are rivited to the shell. Do the straps mount like stock?

Straps mount fine, most of the time the bulb mounting tabs are crooked and you have to drill out the rivest and fix them. On a scale of -10 I'll give them a generous 7.8. Not real great, not oem, but as a replacement that you don't have to feel bad about breakin if you do then they're just what the doctor ordered.

Well, given Maier's reputation for fitment, I suspected the tabs would be misaligned. If they are too bad, I'll just make some out of aluminum. I would buy an OEM shell, but I need a blue one, so that's out of the question, and I'm not paying that much just to paint one. I'm glad to hear that the straps mount like stock because I just had my buddy order a new set of four including the plastic pins.

Hey Louis, do think you could get a few close-up pics of yours? I would really appreciate it.

The one I bought for my flat tracker fit fine with little or no mods. For the price you couldnt beat it, plus at the time I got mine, there werent as many OEM ones on ebay as there are now.
