Look what I picked up about three weeks ago. It’s a 1986 LT250r. I traded my old truck for it that was not road worthy (rotted frame) or capable of passing the state emissions test. This quad is clean and has had many mods done to it. The previous owner said it was to fast for him and he just enjoyed building it. This quad runs crisp and it screams when it hits the pipe. The only things that are wrong with it are it seems to flood out easy when you first try and start it after sitting all night (haven’t found the sweat spot yet) and I will have to pick up a left upper a-arm for it. (Slightly bent) He needed the motor from my truck for a transplant for his street rod project. (460 cubic inch). I will try and post more pics tonight. Anyone have one of these?

i raced a 89 for most of the 90s..the 85-86 q-racers are known for not being real reliabale. what id do with it is ride it and have fun but look for a blue motor (87-92) they will run stronger and last longer
80s......185 atc, Yamaha tri-moto 200, 85 200x with tons of work
90s......89 Suzuki quad racer 250 (raced 250 A class for 6 years, late 90s.. custom framed 250x with long travel shocks and a built 350x motor.... built Honda 110
00s...... chomeoly framed 350 RX with all the goodies (thanks to my bro)

i have 1 that i rebuilt from the ground up, and i have enough parts to build another 86 and a 87, plus a bunch of extras. i also have a 88 lt500r.
people always say the 85-86's aren't reliable. mine is very reliable. i went through everything on mine and i have no problem taking it out every weekend and riding as much as i want with no problems. the only reason theres problems with them is because there old and most are beat to death. a big plus with the 85-86's is the chain adjustment, its so much easier than the newer lt's. but the swingarms are prone to crack more.

glad your haveing good luck with yours but the 85-86 racers do have a known crank problem...i guess it has to do with the odd intake (lack of oil to the crank)
iv rebuilt them too and they dont hold up like the newer ones
