    Question paint help

The paint job on my gas tank was ruined due to some gas being spilled on it. I painted the tank months ago and I thought that something like this would not do the damage that it did. The paint blistered and peeled and now the tank must be repainted. I used an acrylic enamel for the clear coat should I have used something else, is there anything to keep something like this from happening again?

would that automotive base/clear need to be baked on, and do you think it is available in a spray can? I don't have access to painting equiptment and the last paint job i did with a spay can, with some wet sanding and a good buff you couldn't tell anyway. Thanks for the help Rich

I don't believe any paint from a spray can will do what you want it to do.

yeh you guys are right! not being a painter I didn't realize that spray paint has different ingrediants, lacking the hardeners that 2 part paints have. If I'm gonna do this again it's gotta last and look good. Besides if I can make spray paint look good the real stuff should look awesome! thanks for the advise-Rich

You dont have to bake it, and It doesnt come in a spray can. Qt and Gallon cans. Has to be mixed. Isnt cheap, but looks like a million bucks when its done. Its the only way to go. Gas wont bother it either. I have done many a tank. LOL.
