Sweet ride man! You scored. Will you be making the .org pismo ride? Are the 250Rs supposed to be orange? Even if they're not, i sort of like them the orange/red color. How does she run? Let me see if i can upload the pictures to my photobucket then go from there.

Didn't run Saturday when I picked it up.

    Had to:

    1. Fix ON/OFF switch. Coroded with sand and ball had come out of position.
    2. Inline Fuel Filter clogged.
    3. New NGK spark plug BR8ES, had a Champion in there that was fouled.
    4. New Gas, Premix it at 25 to 1

    Started fine.
    Has a ton of power.
Powerband scared me at 1/8 throttle.
    Smokes Horiblely.
Would die in first, when I let out the clutch. Think Clutch had to get some oil to it. Worked it self out.

Has some kind of Knock. Knock comes and goes at different throtle speed when at a stand still. Any Ideas?

Also have no lights front or back ?

Could this be my Knock noise I hear? The Knock comes and goes when at different idle speeds.See below.

There was a knocking sound in my R's motor and after a complete tear down (bottom end too) I found the noise was caused by piston slap. My cylinder was still on it's original bore, not bad for being 20 years old.

I've had Cr's for years and they all have what sounds like piston slap at idle. My current one is an 03' and it's the same way. I had an 85' ATC250R back in 85 and I believe that it did it too. It sounds worse without a helmet on. Unless it is an obvious "knock", I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Knock at idle is a normal thing for a 250r

You're running way richer premix than you really need to with today's oils which is why it's smoking like a mosquito fogger. With a high quality synthetic oil like klotz or amsoil, you can run a much leaner premix (52:1 if you want) and it will barely smoke if at all.

Since your kill switch was acting up, I'd start at the switch to find the lights problem. Check the bulbs and connections.

$650 is a ridiculous deal on that.

Yeah knocking is normal for sure.....

As for the pre mix ! is right, I personally don't back if off that far, call me gutless but 32:1 is good for me. Synthetic oils are worlds ahead, they stick to the cylinder walls for a loooong time. Some of the new 2-stroke marine outboards are running at 100:1!!!
