    Tri-z Wrench Report

Hi all, this is my first post so here goes... I'm quite new to the three wheeling game but I've gotta say I'm loving it... I recently bought a 1986 Tri-Z as my main rider and loved it right away; it's kept at a friend's place so I don't get to ride it as often as I'd like but I've been out trail riding on it several times now and as I said I've loved it every time, however on our most recent day out a friend let me ride his bored and ported 250R and was it awsome or what!?! Needless to say it left me thinking... I've read up about the Wrench Report and I think its the way I want to go; have any of you guys done the work on your Zs and if so what do you think??? If I do go down that line then there are some bits I want/need, I'm also partway through turning my Z black - I've got my eye on eBay but does anyone out there have any of the following parts, ya know, hanging around?

    Bassani/TC pipe
    Answer silencer
NOS/low hours stock cylinder OR Wrench Report'd cylinder & head
    Black headlight fairing
    Right-side black shroud
    Black airbox cover

Any other recommendations to make my Tri-Z that little bit better?

    Thanks! Faye

    Hey faye,

I too was looking to coax some more power outa my Z . I just went with a mild port job from Jason Hall here on the boards. I absouluty LOVE it. Accels alot faster, pulls like a frieght train

I do have answer silencer willing to trade for a DG so I can my DG system on my other Z.

Finding aftermarket pipes for Z's are real tricky, DG is a stock replacment pretty much.

Bassani will be hard to come by and it will require $$ if you find it.

Just keep an eye on ebay and most stuff will pop up, or post in the classifieds here.

Send a pm to Aussieduner here on the boards. He can hook you up with reproduction black shrouds and a black airbox cover.

i cant comment on the motor mods.mine is just stock 60 over.no porting or nothin.. fyi, maier still makes front and rear fenders.stock black rear fenders are still available too, from a dealer.at least they were 2 weeks ago. i got yellow rear from the factory brand new,and a buddy got black ones.only for the rears though.the aussie duner stuff is real nice too.i have some of the black shrouds.if ya want nice oem shrouds, they go for quite a bit on ebay.be ready to pay for them though.and welcome to the board
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Ok funny man, why not sell me yours… you started this off anyway! I was perfectly happy with my Z until you came along with the beast!

I’m going to stick to the phase one wrench report job; I think phase two would be a nightmare on the trails, especially on some of those rocky uphill tracks – really need the bottom end for that kind of work. The Tri-Z was definitely the most comfortable out of all the bikes on the trails and although I want that little extra power out of it I don’t want to ruin its good qualities in the process.

nope.. but i do..anyways.. oh and the bottom end is still there. I even went up a tooth and theres plenty of grunt in the bottom..your just makeing the qualitys its has better with more top end. Theres other ways to shift the powerband curve also like porting, reed plates, milling the head.they all add upwhen done the right way.thats my 2cents
