Previous owner had it tuned to run with choke on.
I did not notice till I came home and putted around in yard for an hour. One of the gas lines out of carb kept leaking ALOT of gas (overflow I think) even when I turned the gas off at the tank spigot. Prior owner talked about the float bowl sticking in carb. I was so jazzed at having a 3 wheeler I just didn't care about the gas leakage
Tried to get it to idle after warmed up for this hour, and it died. The plug fouling session commenced with me buying lots of plugs.
Can not keep it running. When it gets up in temp,(60 seconds) it boggs and dies.
Once it revved really high and would not shut off for 3seconds.
then yesterday I took apart the carb and it looks clean.Pretty sure I squirted Carb/choke cleaner everywhere I could.Drained the tank, checked the air filter looks clean.I can only get it to start with a shot of starting fluid in the airbox. It surges and acts erratic.Checked compression and it was over 120.I guess thats good news. Looks like i need a (?) intake boot looks cracked and prior owner tried to seal with goop. The twist throttle will stay where you put it. Should I give up on this carb and buy a new one? What would be the right one to buy? Anyone know where I can find a new twist throttle/cable combo? Any other Ideas? Thank You Very much for your Time.

well if your going to scrap the carb, go with the kehihn pwk39. i am in the market to get a new carb and from the suggestions i have gotten on here, thats what everyone is recommending to me. just over 300 thru dennis kirk. the intake boot might be a bit harder to come by, look around on ebay or post a want to buy ad in the classifieds, maybe some one on here can help you out. i had the same problem with my intake boot be dry rotted, alls i did was went to the autoparts store and got a can of the stuff you dip your metal plyers in to give them grip, i used a small paint brush and coated the entire outer part of the boot. worked awesome, no more leaks, and it still looks stock.

Shouldn't the compression be more like 170-190 psi ?

I agree with scooteroo, looks like the boot is causing the problems. Air is leaking in from somewhere causing your mixture to lean out. That is why it would only run with your choke on. that inlet boot looks dodgy.

What is the name of that plyers grip stuff?
