    Yamahauler?

Hey everyone, I found a Yamaha 200 Shaft drive for sale near by that I think is a Yamahauler model? I think it said 200E on the side of it. The guy said it runs great but only has 4th gear. If that is the case what could be wrong with it. He is asking $50 for the thing and even though under normal circumstances I would not want one, for $50 or maybe even less would it be worth it? BTW the plastics all seemed to be in great shape. Thanks!

Yeah I have a Yammer 200e and its pretty cool. The misses has taking a liking in it too. I would snag it for that and worse case, get another tranny and swap it out if something bad is wrong.

Wow it looks just like that one but the plastics are a little faded on it I would say. I think it had a rack or racks as well. That is a very nice trike BTW. Plus I might just have to get it since its called a Yamahauler which I think is pretty cool. Thanks guys.

Well I picked it up today! I ended up getting one for parts as well for free! He said the parts one was a DX but I dont know for sure, not really much there anyways. Right now I am just putting the parts he took off back on it and seeing if it actually runs. The plug looked good though, it has good tread all the way around with scorpions in the rear and tyrfbuster in the front and it even had a like new UNI air filter! What I am wondering today is where the vin numbers are on these things so I can find out the year. Yamahauler let me know a price for that tranny! I am pretty sure I will be needing it. Thanks!

Make sure you need it first, to get to the tranny you have to tear the entire engine apart.

vin number is on the frame on the steering neck. or on the crank case.

Thanks Yamahauler for the info but I am still not positive on the year. You probally need the numbers off the engine for that table huh. I couldent get them off it but I got the neck numbers from both just now. The 200E's numbers are 24W-003327 and the parts trike is a DX like the guy said, being a 1984 225DX. The numbers off that are 29U-079333. I found out the year of that one because it had the sticker on the front saying "This 1984 motorcycle...." and then I matched up the first 2 numbers and letter for a DX on the chart. It did narrow my year down to a 1983 or 1984 though so thanks again. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.(spelling?)

Oh also I wanted to add I got it running! The guy had the side cases apart so I had to put them back together but now that it is running I have occasionally grabbed 2nd gear! That has got to be something in the tranny right? I doubt it but could it have anything to do with the shift linkage at all because that seems messed up like the shifter hangs way too low and its hard to shift through the gears that I have/dont have so I dont know what it could be. By the way especially since I only have 4th as my highest gear, this thing seems to really haul! Guess thats why they call it a Yamahauler.
