    '85 200s sputtering

    Just got it last night, its an '85 200s But it sputters when riding and dies if it idle's too long (about 20 seconds) . So i changed the carb to the one off my big red i never had a problem with, and there is NO difference at all. Any ideas?

    ok i put a carb off another 200, never had a problem with, and a new plug in. This did help, but it still sputters. Do you think it could be wrong plug?? What plug should a '85 200s have??

    Does it backfire too? Could be getting oil fouled if too much oil is passing bad rings. How does the plug look when you pull it?

    Mine sputters every once in a while, more often during warm up. I've accepted that as normal for mine. It doesn't die, just an occasional sputter at idle or low rpm's. Is it a constant, steady sputter?

    Its a Steady sputter in 1'st gear and idle, and occasional in the others, mostly when i let off or im less then 1/4 throttle. I got a couple backfires yesterday, but the guy i got it from asked to buy it back cause i got it running so much better, hahahah. They are burnt Black, i know that Brown is normal.

    lol mine is doing the same crap. exept mine does it on hills and only in higher gears (3rd 4th 5th) gears

    but my plugs are come out tan "normal"
    down to parts because i no longer have a place to ride trikes.
