Did you clean your carb first? Could need a good cleaning. Also try running Sea-Foam through it, you can get that at most auto parts stores. If that don't work I would guess your reeds.

if your reeds are screwed you might get a fire once every like 20 kicks, because most of the F/A mixture excapes back through the carb...if theres close to 2 thousanths of an inch gap between the reed and the reed cage then replace them

Thanks for all the help guys. I got it to fire up once out of a whole day of trying to get it started. I think i'll buy a carb rebuild kit and a new set of reeds.

what did the plug look like??
?? too much oil premix?
crank seal bad-oil side?
try some either to get it started ,and see how it runs
yes reeds can let too much fuel in if worn out and it would appear to be rich as well
