Thumbs up I'm officially a US Army Sergeant

Well, it's official. I'm now a Sergeant, with a date of rank of 01AUG06. We had a formation this evening, and I was pinned. More like punched. Our new uniforms have the rank on the sternum, and I was "welcomed" to the Corps of NCOs by the right fist of an E-6 Staff Sergeant. Yeah, my chest hurts a little, but it's a good pain. I've been waiting to get promoted for a while, and my goal was to leave Korea as an NCO, so both have now become reality.

    Cheers to me!

Gratz! Now you have to deal with those crafty Specialists. Kinda sucks no longer being 'one of the guys', but you have to grow up sometime. I hated it. The best advice I can give is to start hard and get soft. You will screw yourself if you start soft and try to get hard later. You won't gain respect, you will just be an asshole in the eyes of your troops. Good luck!

Welcome to our ranks. I've been an E-5 for a little while. Sometimes I think it was easier being a NONCOM.

By the way, where are you stationed now? When I complete OCS in November I am heading to Fort Sill.

Currently, I am still in Wonju, South Korea at Camp Eagle, but I'll be on leave in two weeks. Then, it's off to Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA. Hopefully, I'll end up at Ft. Rucker, AL, a few months later for flight school.

Hopefully we can run into each other some where along the way and hit some trails. Good luck.
