start by working from the outside edge in, first hook the outside of the spring and gradually work the spring in one coil at a time while holding the previous coil in, It takes a while but it can be done.

Strong fingers tips helps aswell. You can hold the coil with one hand, and guide it in with your index, while holidng the trailing edge with your thumb and rotating the housing. Its like playing a game boy with your index middle and thumb with both hands. takes like 5 minutes to shuv it back together.

    Pain in the rear!

There used to be a web site explaining how to do it. Get a piece of wood 1x8 or 10 about a foot or so long. Put two small nails about an inch apart in the center of the board. Take your spring and hook it around one of the nails. Get e piece of tie wire and make a loop a little tighter than the size of spring holder. Wrap the spring around the nails put the coil around it and very carefully put the spring back in the recoil.

awesome idea redryder. after i wrestled my 200s spring back in, i couldnt slide the pulley onto the shaft because the inner end of the spring was touching the shaft. the very bottom part of the pulley would just sit ontop of the spring. in order for the spring to be held away from the shaft, i had to grind a couple ice cubes into the right shape and put them between the coils on the opposite side of where the spring hit the shaft. the ice cubes re-positioned the end of the spring so the pulley would slide down on. if you have to do this put plenty of oil in with the spring and ice cubes and about 15 minutes after its all together hold it upside down for the water to drain out. then pour in plenty more oil. you dont want things to get too rusty from the water.
