Thread: drum brake

    I did clean everything. The rubber seal looks like new.

    The rubber seal had a 1/4 bead of white grease all the way around it. The Grease got into the drum along with dirt. Made a mess.

    The question I am asking now is:
    Do you grease the big rubber seal at all?
    and
    Do you grease the pivot points on the brake shoes?

    Question

    I have never heard of doing this. perhaps the grease was there as a water repellent.

    I was always taught grease and brakes don't do to well together...

    hmm I went on bikebandit.com and looked up the '86 SX just to make sure there was a difference and it said that nut was an 18mm. As for the bolts on the hub just hit the threaded end with a and they will pop out.

    im so confused,i tryed a 23mm lug wrench(pictured) and its to small.how could it possibly be 18mm?

    just use an adjustable, it may have gotten changed over the years
