Need some help with a yamaha 200cc 1985

hello, my spark plug keeps getting all black and clogged looking, and my 3 wheeler doesnt idle... and pull cord doesnt pull back in, help plzzz

clean the carb out really good. especially pilot jet for idle.

ok thx, were doin that tomorrow, but do u have any suggestions on what to do to the pull cord? it often hangs down and doesnt draw in...

hmm try pb blaster (remove it from bike and spray around the pulley

may need to take it aprt and rewind the spring.

ok, well it's runnin well, just i think it needs a carb cleanin, and a muffler it backfires quite often..

When it backfires is it when your slowing down and down shifting, if so check your exhaust for leak's, up by the engine's head is a common spot for a leak, i had just finsh replacing mine due to the same problem your having.

ok thx lol, i dont have a real exaust it's just a homemade piece of *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited*, but we will fix the leaks... i dont have the money to buy a 200$ exaust when im prolly gunna sell the trike..

LOL.. i went to the dealer for a new one..they laughed at me and said not made anymore..Luckly i found a used one for 20 dollers. i had a home made one before, found it to loud , it was built right where it never backfired, but the community didn't like it to much (which i agree with)...but its funny how a small little leak can turn in to some thing so damaging to a engine.

You could probably get a good used exhaust for $60 or so, check ebay and the classifieds.

Mine did the same thing and I took it off and sprayed some silicone around the spring and haven't had any trouble since.

i dont live near anyone sellin a used one, and im sellin my trike anywys ij ust wanna get it runnin good enuf to sell
