That is correct. 10/40 motor oil.
I use the Valvoline or Castrol 10/40.
Don't put in synthetic though or you risk clutch slippage.

There are 2 different Rotella oils available. A synthetic 5w-40 and non-synthtic 15w-40. Both are very good oils, and are actually rated for motorcycle/atv wet clutch applications. I run Rotella in most of my machines with great results.

Also there is the standby ATF type F for exteme use in 2 stroke gearboxes.

Yeah. Manufacture made the bike. They should know. Plus on my R, the gear oil is changed every other ride so I am not throwing money away on bel ray.

Isnt that a bit of overkill to change the oil that fast.

If you use regular oil,you should change it all the time!Get some gear saver, and be safe, this stuff is great and breaks down way slower than the others!!The way I can tell its better, is if you put fresh regular oil in,ride it 1 day, then change it,it will look like water. If you do the same with gear saver,it's still like it should be!!

duh, wtf are you guys on? use 80 or 90 wt gear oil. honda makes tranny oil that is 90 wt specifically for 250r's and cr dirtbikes, they come in the liter bottles at the dealer, other than that you can just get some decent 80 or 90 wt gear oil. that is what is supposed to be run in a GEARBOX, not a whole motor, which motor oil is used for.
