Wheelie Pulling Power: ATC 250R...what gear?

    Hey Guys,

the good old '86 250r really impresed me last night. Mine is completely stock only has a K&N filter. No aftermaket pipe or anything.

With a tug of the bars and a blast of throttle she could loft the front end in 4th gear!

I think thats pretty damn good right?

    5th!! Man thats just crazy!!

The trouble is that mine is stock and mint...so while I would love to do a ton of things...

..I gotta keep her show room.

What about porting and then a 38mm carb...but the stock pipe?

(I have a 38mm Keihin PJ thats from one of the 550's).

Yeah like already said, do some mods and it will loft all the way. Mine will gas up anygear at any rpm above 3000 without touching the bars. Matter fact, thats sitting all the way forward.
They actually become problematic with some good mods. You have to stretch the swinger and/or upgear just to ride hard without
looping. Ive had mine up for a couple months since modded out and still get "bit" every week. They set you down pretty easy, even at high speeds. LOL ........have fun.

    cr gasket

why don`t you try the thinner cr gasket to up compression, its an easy mod and should help power wise, while keeping stock look.

On top, My 85 with the paul turner motor will pull it up in 4th if you try. I haven't tried any taller then that. The 86 I'm still dialing in but I suspect it'll be 3rd or so for it.

I can't get mine to wheelie on dirt, hardpack or gravel. Too much power and all I get is a roost of power!

Good point this is what I am thinking about!

I also have a 38mm Keihin PJ that looks just like the OEM version.

I might do a few little things here and there...its not that I need more power...but this motor has such a good base point that I am intriged as to what its capable of.

    It's capable of a lot.

If you're only concerned about the oem look, you can mod the hell out of it and just hang on to the stock stuff so it could easily be put back to OEM. You can gain a good amount of power with just a really good port job and nobody will know anything has been done but putting a good pipe, carb and reed cage on there along with the port job will really unleash it.

But I had meaning in my "two words" there Billy.

I was INFORMING him and others that he infact was a "post whore".
