Alright, carb, cleaning, and how to?

So, my darned ATC wouldn't start the other morning. went out, gassed it up, and gave it a good kick. only to discover it leaking gas out of both drain/vent tubes. So i figured the floats were stuck or something.

So i removed that carb, took the floats out, and the little valve. and squirted some carb cleaner in the. floats did seem to be a Little stuck. reinstalled and no more gas leek. but, still no start.

So i squirted some gas into the carb opening (where the air filter attaches) and it fired right up for about 3 seconds. and continues to not start unless you put gas into that carb.

So anyone have any tips on the best way to clean that carb? and the best way to readjust everything afterwords?

Did you remove jets and check them? Sounds like pilot jet is clogged.

Clean everything, pull out your jets and make sure the holes are not plugged. The gas was dripping because of your needle and seat, if it hasn't been replaced in a long time it should be done.

yea dude its your jets, the two gold looking things. take then out hold em up to light if you can see any light thru them theres your problem. usally you can get them with jet carb cleaner blasting it out. somtimes there a lil harder.i always got a brake wire off a bike and split the end very long, (one single strand off the whole thing), and used that to fit into it to clean it out.

carb cleaner and compressed air !!!

take everything apart... and clean it carefully..

the only screws you have to be careful with are the flat head scres for the air/fuel and the Idle screw...

the rest just go in and out..

Be careful when taking the float out not to bend the little tab that sets the float level.. take your time and don't force anything.

Clean all the little holes and blow air thru everything... specially those jets !
