It's far cheaper to buy a complete trike that's in good condition and just fix/restore anything that it needs.
I like buying clunkers and fixing them up personally. Something about giving something that has one (or two) wheels in the grave a second lease on life that I just find satisfying. Now if I could just make enough money to actually do something with the clunkers in the garage...

Yes, I built a TRX250R with parts from Ebay, ATVriders.com and from a local seller.
Started with an '86 frame and Krankit Racing CT 310 sleeve, CT midrange pipe, ASR arms, 450R suspension..... Started the build in my house!! Motor, pipe, silencer, plastic and some other parts cost me $1000 here in Japan.
90% complete - but with issues
Started over with a new frame - Arens
Currently waiting for small but VERY important parts.
If I can build a Quad from Japan you shouldn't have any problems building a trike. If you can't find a good deal on a complete motor it would be a good idea to find a good lowerend($200~$600) and then purchase a topend kit. I have seen a lot of nice PV topends with many more bores left sell on ebay for $500~$800.
There are a lot of R's on Ebay right now so you would be better off buying a complete trike and then rebuilding it.

I plan on building from scratch very soon. Was at my local ATV salvage yard over the weekend, and he has everything I need from frames to swingers to tanks and engines - I am looking at roughly $1000. the advantage to doing it thisway is that you do not need to disassemble before resstoring parts.
