i have a honda trx250x and i dont know the year. It doesnt have the sticker on the frame that tells you the year is there any way of finding out

Look at the swingarm bolt. If the bracket for the rear upper and lower engine mounts passes through the swingarm the frame is an '86-'87. If the rear engine mounts do not connect to the swingarm the frame is an '88-'89.
The front engine mount for the '86 frame is very thick.
'88-'89 pegs mount to the frame with a pin and cotter system while the '86-'87 pegs are attached to a plate that mounts to the frame.

is there any difference in the motors? i wanna get parts off ebay as spares and get all my stuff bored and ported
also i am looking a for a cam for my 250x is there any other motor that i can pull one from that has a higher lift than mine that will fit in mine
