just wondering if you can cut the spring on the front shocks so there lower...why...well im putting the front shock on my 225dr and i see that there 5 to 6 inches taller then the stock ones...so can it be done????if so are they going to get hurt when jumping and the are fully extended out then rebounded? do i put more oil in or what? what should i do? thx

i really would not know.i think you may be the first to try this.i think cutting the springs will adversely affect the compression and rebound.maybe some one else knows this answer?

AIN'T never dONE THAT BEFORE !!! on my RAG i changed the spring from the bottom to the top and the top to the bottom on the TRI-Z .... Lower's it in the "85" front end with 10-12 oz's of 20 wt. fork oil in each tube..... back in the day "they" took the short top spring out and installed a piece of PVC in it's place

so am i the first to try triz front on a ytm out there????there has to be someone else or some other ideas...im just looking for the most info i cant get before trying this...can u cut the tubes? it already wheelles to much already so if i could get the same level it would be great...and the 12 inch rim doesnt really help that much either..that for all the info guys...

The 85 has two springs, and you can take the top one out, and it will be lower but all that does is allow them to collapse more, so you just lost half your shock travel. Also, every time you give it gas, your front end will rise, and your forks extend back out, and drop back down every time you let off. You would have to do soemthing to keep them from re-extending, but by the time you reduce spring length, drop your travel in half, and keep them from extending, the question has to be asked as to what you were hoping to gain by using TriZ forks to begin with, because it probably would not work nearly as well as your existing forks. If you are looking for a better fork setup, you will probably be alot better off trying to find a dirt bike fork that is closer to the length you need. My guess is that you would probably have to go with a large mini, with heavier springs.
