This chain on this quad came off 4 times yesterday. I adjusted it the day before because it keeps getting loose. I even loctited the four bolts that slide in the carrier but it seems to keep loosining and coming off. I have read in the past somewhere that these suzukis are prone to throwing the chains but I was wondering if there was a solution to this problem. I recently also replaced the chain and sprokets a couple weks ago so all is pretty much new. Any suggestions?

james licky makes chain tensioners for the lt230 that helped with the probvblems i had but it doesnt eliminate it totaly still pops onc ein a while.

Not a expert but your new chain will stretch some for awhile under load. You might want to mark your carrier and the swing arm to see if the carrier is turning inside the clamp. If not then I would suspect the swing arm bearings or the carrier bearing like badasskfx mentioned earlier. Jmo

I'll try the marking trick after I readjust and tightenen everything back up. I'm pretty sure all the bearings are tight but I'll check them again to see for sure.
Oh I should mention that I have had the quad out on quite a few all day rides and it never happens with me. Only when my son rides it...

Welp,,, Looks as if the rear axle bearings are shot... I've been having bad luck with bearings lately. Anyways I just got bearings and seals off ebay for $12.50
Now, I can understand how that would cause the chain to pop... but what would cause it to keep loosing the way it is?

when the bearings are loose you can never realy adjust your chain properly. you can adjusy your chain then kick the tire and it could be loose again.

Yea that's what I was thinkin. Although the one tensioner looks to be bent up a bit (the one under the caliper)... dunno if that may have something to do with it as well.
I 'll get these bearings switched out right quick and see how it goes from there.
