    Question 1983 honda 110 questions

For those of you who have seen my honda 90 questions, well it is a 110 like it has been so kindly pointed out to me. It was leaking oil out the back and from around the chain. I ran into a snag. I didn't have to proper pulley puller so I could get the outer case off. So being the person that I am and that I have access to a 3000 watt laser, and having some programing experiance I made one out of 1/4 950x steel. That one bent as soon as I started to put some torque on it. So I made one out of 1/2 inch 980x steel. That one worked like a charm. I took everything off and there by the sprocket was a dime size chunk taken out of the case. I found the chunk and filed it down so it would fit nice and snug in the hole. I put JB weld in the hole first placed the piece I filed down in it and slapped more JB weld over it and it is harding as I type.

My questions are, When I go to put it all back together how tight is the chain supposed to be on a 1983 honda 110? There is a whole bunch of slack in it. I can lift it atleast 2 inches of the tension sproket. Should it be that loose. I am guessing not but I am not sure how tight it is supposed to be. I imagine this is the reason I had the chunk taken out of my case.

My second question is when I took off the chain guard there was a 4 inch plastic piece floating around in there and I don't know where it goes. the Haynes book I have doesn't say anything about that and where it is supposed to go. It seems to fit on the bolt that the tension sprocket is on but I am not sure and if that is where it goes what is the purpose of it?

Thanks guys. I will let you know how it all turns out when I do get it back together

Im not sure about your second question. But as far as the chain slack goes i dont have the exact recomendations but usually about 3/4 to 1in of slack will be good not more than that. Also you need to buy a case saver this is a very good insurance policy. you can usually pick one up on ebay.

    It's alive!!!

T he piece is fixed and everything back together. Rode it out to my mom and dad's about 3 miles to check it. Leaked a little oil around the sub transmission but I pulled that off again and put sealer around it. I am going to leave it harden over night and I will try it again.
