Question What's inside a stock Honda muffler?

Anybody cut one open? I'm sure someone has! What's inside there? Is it just a series of metal baffles, or is there supposed to be some sort of sound deadening material such as fiberglass? Also, what is that little inspection cover for (The little cover that has two bolts in it, near the end of the muffler)? I'm trying to make one good 'quiet' muffler out of two bad ones, and would like to know if I'm missing anything. TIA

some baffles, some stainless steel mesh and some stainless steel wool in a triple bypass ---- Enter top flow to the back reverse direction through SS wool mesh through baffle ports to exit at the back / bottom.

The little cover is usually removed so you can clean the spark arrester screen usually all you have to do is remove it and got for a ride then all the carbon will blow out the hole, your defeating the purpose of the spark arrester so just start any fires riding around spewing hot carbon out your exhaust lol

Other smaller or lesser known companies, such as Tiger ATV, Franks, and Cagiva, produced racing three wheelers, but in much smaller numbers. Few of these machines are known to exist today and are highly sought by collectors.

    Hey Squirrel..
the stock muffler is sorta like the pipe ... it's lined with an inner coated thing with holes in it ... under it is fiberglass ...back in the day some guys cut the "stock" pipe open ... gutted it and welded it back together,,,, same with the silencer..."they" say the geometry of the stock pipe IS GOOD !!! but it takes time and its fun ............ "sorta" , some people do that to the stock pipe and install an aftermarket silencer.......... (more TOP END SPEED)..........

I just cleaned my 200s muffler out. Took the lid off and used a pressure washer to blow it out. Man it blew out big chunks of carbon that where rattling around in there. I blasted it from the outlet and inlet. I ran it without the cover on it for 10 minutes while revving it up to dry it out. Made a big difference.
