    I think there's still parts available. I have a parts engine, but I've never seen it run so I don't know if the tranny's any good. Thanks for the idea on putting the sub in neutral, I hadn't thought of that!

    Darrel632, you were right. I put the sub in neutral and I could still hear the noise, except this time I could clearly hear that it was coming from the sub-transmission. My buddy and I took it apart today and found a broken gear in the sub-tranny!

    Now that might not seem like something to get excited about, but at least I don't have to replace internal tranny parts. So now I'm looking for sub-trans gears, if anyone has them for sale. I'd probably take the whole set just to be safe.
