    200x

I have a 1984 Honda 200x. It has been sitting in the garage for over a year. I went ahead and changed the oil, air filter, spark plug, cleaned the carburetor, and cleaned the gas tank out. It wouldn't start for nothing, so I went ahead and push started it. It started up, but was set at one certain speed. Do I need to replace the twist throttle? I twist and nothing it continues to stay at the speed. Another thing, when I started to hit on the brakes to get it ready to stop it would start idling real loud. I went ahead and tried to kick start after all of that and nada. I checked the choke and it was good. The gas switch was on. Don't think I left any step out . Any help is appreciated.

Check the throttle cable and slide, something may be either stuck, or disconnected. Have you checked the spark? It should be white or blue. Is there pressure when you kick the kickstarter? Let us know what happens!

Levithan thank your for your response. After posting the message I went ahead and checked on the throttle and noticed that the wire basically was hanging out. Ordering a new twist throttle. I'll keep you posted just in case there are any more problems. Again Thank you for your response.

Just received my twist throttle kit. I put it all together and I'm still coming with the same result. Like it is stuck. Do you think I should go ahead and replace the carb or get a carb kit? "edog" I have not adjusted valves. How would I go about doing this? Thanks for the help.

Had to hook the carb slide in wasn't going all the way down. Now it runs, but it still sounds like it is over revving while driving. When you hold the clutch in is when you really can hear the revving sound.

Get a carb kit, that may solve it. They are around 15-20$ from Dennis Kirk (www.denniskirk.com) Let us know what you are going to do. Also, I would get a thumb throttle, I have had no luck with twist.

Check for intake leaks. The boot the goes from the carb to the motor in particular. They crack sometimes. You can spray starter fluid around that area while it's running and listen to see if the idle changes at all. If it does it's sucking in air.
