I cleaned the spark plug, filled it with fuel, drained the sediment bowl incase it had water in the tank (we leave it in the rain) We did find a wire that was worn into. It went from the starter to the coil, so we solderd it together, still won't start. It isn't the air filter so what could it be? Points? I didn't flood the carb....
I welcome any thoughts as I am at my wits end about this right now

Do you have spark or not? All you have to do to check is put the end of the sparkplug against the engine while trying to start it. If it has fire you can see the spark at the plug.
