    just got a TRX90, have some ?s

I got it for only $600, its too cool, will post some pics after I clean it up. I need to change out the (probably original) BLACK oil but I dont have a book, anyone know how much goes in it? Probably the same for the gear oil.

Im also wondering about the chain tension on it, it seems a little loose, and the correct carb adjustments. It runs good, but I think it may have been fouling plugs in the past as I found a bunch of them with some sand paper under the seat, it also wouldnt idle without keeping it going, it just dies out, but it still runs good when you go on it.

It was sitting for ever though, the gas in it was bad and had that nasty old smell so I had to drain it out, should run much better after that and I clean out the air filter or just get a new one.

With the stale gas in it you should definately take the tank off and take it to a manual power car wash and blast that *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* out, and clean your fuel valve. As for the idling just hand tune the idle needle.

Honda recomended oil is 10w40 Pro Honda GN4 or HP4.
    Oil capacity approx: .7 qts
standard spark plug: ngk cr7hsa or denso u22fsr-u
    plug gap: .024-.028
chain should have 3/4-15/16 slack midway between sprockets
    valve clearance: 0.002

My owners manual doesn't have any info on how to adjust valves or carb settings. I would bet the carb has a bunch of gummy fuel in it if the tank was gummed up. I would clean the carb and put the idle screw at approximately 2 turns out and start fromt here. Make sure you get the jets cleaned throuroghly. Let me know if you need any other info fromt he owners manual.

    AWESOME, thanks fellas.
I cleaned out the tank and the carb-was nasty! The pilot jet was totally blocked up. I got it to idle pretty good, but wont really find out till its been out riding a bit. The air cleaner was horrible too. Found a crack where it looks like some dummy tried to adjust the chain without loosening the right bolts so im gonna get a used swing arm for it.

Those folks beat this thing, and its a 2000! Plastics cracked, mounting points bent etc. I should be up to about $700-$800 after getting it all fixed up, not bad. It doesnt smoke at all. I will post pics of my progress, I almost have the swinger out, was thinking about welding it for now, or I could really drive as is but...

I found some cracks around the the rear swinger and axel so Im pulling it all apart, Im stuck at the brake drum though. Everything is apart except I dont know whats holding the drum on, can you look it up for me?

And what they recommend for pulling the sprocket mounting hub too.

Might want to clean the carb, stale gas could gum it up. Adjust the valves also.

Before: running good like hondas do even with all the issues, just not idling, paid $600

During: rebuilding rear end, cleaning it, etc

after I pressure washed the 1inch layer of crud off it

After: cleaned out DIRTY carb, drained the bad gas, put new rear axel carrier and swinger (had some cracks) off ebay for only $50 total with shipping-NEW. Labour to pull out stuck on axel and change 2 tires at this rip off ATV joint was $115. (they over charged me, they charged me $10 for a "shop fee" they explained was the tire lube (when I worked at a shop our "tire lube" was soap and water, so I guess this was top of the line tire lube they used, and they charged me $10 to get rid of the 2 good [just too big] tires that were on it that I had to get that removed and took my tires that they would probably just resell anyway...). Added two NEW Hole Shots that I had laying around from a 3 wheeler project that I sold off-$90. Changed the oil, pealed off the dumb stickers, cleaned the air filter, replaced missing bolts, fixed dents, painted as needed. Runs awesome but still needs a few things, carb runs a tad rich and needs to be tweaked. Total cost not counting tires was under $800. Plastics are beat though and it still needs some stuff.

yeah I heard that, it runs fast enough though, its mainly for my kids/wife and I dont really need it to go any faster through the woods than it already does.

How the heck does that work anyway, it will run at lower RPMs with it cut, I dont get it...?
